EIT InnoEnergy Master's programmes accept IELTS Academic Test as proof of English Proficiency. 

 

Required scores

 

An overall band score of at least 6.5 (with no section lower than 5.5). Students interested in studying at Eindhoven Technical University (TU/e) are required no section lower than 6.0.  

 

Please upload your offiicial IELTS Certificate in our admissions portal during the application process so that our Admission's office can verify the results.

 

IELTS General Training test is not accepted as proof of English proficiency.

 


Is your test result older than two years?


We may accept your application if you can show proof that you have maintained your English proficiency since taking the test. You will need to meet at least ONE of the following criteria:

  • You have completed one semester of English studies in the past two years (for an example during an exchange). We accept official transcripts or confirmation of your stay at the host university as proof.
  • You have worked for at least three months in an entirely English environment in the past two years (for example, during an internship or employment). We accept an employer’s statement about the duration of your contract and the official language as proof.
  • You have taken a B2 or C1-level English exam at your university, language school or online in the past two years. We accept a course or language certificate as proof.

EIT InnoEnergy Master's programmes accept several University of Cambridge certificates as proof of English Proficiency.

 

Required level

 

  • Certificate in Advanced English, CAE (grades A – C)
  • Certificate of Proficiency in English, CPE (grades A – C)


LinguaSkills test (B2 level) is accepted for students interested in the programme Master’s in Nuclear Energy with year 1 UPC: Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya.

You will need to share your results with Karlsruher Institute of Technology - KIT from Results Verification Service for Cambridge English exams using this link.

 

Is your certificate older than two years?

 

We may accept your application if you can show proof that you have maintained your English proficiency since receiving the certification. If you have a CPE or a CAE certificate and can show proof that you have maintained your English proficiency, we will consider your application on a case-by-case basis. You will need to meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • You have completed one semester of English studies in the past two years (for an example during an exchange). We accept official transcripts or confirmation of your stay at the host university as proof.

  • You have worked for at least three months in an entirely English environment in the past two years (for example, during an internship or employment). We accept an employer’s statement about the duration of your contract and the official language as proof.

  • You have taken a B2 or C1-level English exam at your university, language school or online in the past two years. We accept a course or language certificate as proof.

TOEFL Internet-based test, IBT

EIT InnoEnergy Master's programmes accept TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) as proof of English Proficiency.

Required scores

 

A total score of at least 92, with a minimum score of 22 from the writing section. Students interested in studying at Eindhoven Technical University (TU/e) are required a minimum score of 21 on each section.


Currently, we are also accepting TOEFL IBT Home Edition. EIT InnoEnergy does not accept MyBest Scores.

When you receive your official certificate, please upload it in the admissions portal so that our Admissions Office can verify the results.

 

Is your test older than two years?

 

Unfortunately, TOEFL results are only valid for two years from the date of the exam, and we cannot accept results which are already expired. You will need to re-sit your exam, or take a relevant IELTS, CAE or CPE qualification.

Your proof of English Proficiency needs to be submitted together with your other application documents before the application deadline of each application Round:

  • Round 1: 05 September 2022 - 06 November 2022.
  • Round 2: 14 November 2022 - 22 January 2023.
  • Round 3: 25 January 2023 - 08 March 2023.
  • Round 4: 11 March 2023 - 16 April 2023.
  • Round 5: 19 April 2023 - 11 June 2023.

 

 

If you cannot upload your proof of English proficiency before the deadline of a specific round, you can:

 

- Change your preference to a programme or home university which allows for an extended deadline or a special waivers - if applicable* (Check "extended deadline" and "waivers" for more information)
or

- Clone your application in our application system and submit your application in a subsequent round when you fulfill the English proficiency requirements.

 

*Our Admissions Office reserves the right to change your home university if you do not fulfill the English requirements for your preferred university but you are eligible for an extended deadline or special waiver by a different institution. This will ensure that your application is still considered by the programme of choice.

Extended deadline for test submission

Any student interested in pursuing year 1 at IST Instituto Superior Tecnico is eligible to submit the result of English Proficiency test or certificate (if required) until 15 July 2023. Students interested in this extension must indicate IST Instituto Superior Tecnico as their prefered university of choice in the application portal.


This extension is only possible for the following programmes:

  • Master's in Renewable Energy
  • Master's in Energy Technologies
  • Master's in Energy Storage

 

Students from India and Nigeria interested in pursuing year 1 of Energy Technologies at Uppsala University are also eligible to submit the proof of English Proficiency until 15 July 2023. Students interested in this extension are required to indicate Uppsala University as their prefered university of choice for this programme in the application portal.  Students from Nigeria are also eligible for an English Proficiency Test waiver for the Master's in Sustainable Energy Systems. Check out the section "Waivers" for more information.

 

Our Admissions Office reserves the right to change your home university if you do not fulfill the English requirements for your preferred university but you are eligible for an extended deadline or special waiver by a different institution. This will ensure that your application is still considered by the programme of choice.

What happens if my application is rejected?
