Mining for non Minors Event – create awareness and promote growth in the sector

The Event

The recent “Mining for non Miners” event in Madrid, on the 19th of April, was co-organized by InnoEnergy and Confedem (main Mining Association in Spain) with the aim of providing a better understanding of the metal extraction sector. The event was attended by representatives from over 20 leading Spanish companies who are keen to understand more about the critical raw materials in Spain.

The event featured three sessions, with José Luis Tejera, a Professor of Metallurgy at ETSI Minas y Energía de Madrid, presented on battery materials and the challenges in refining them. He also provided a map of resources and highlighted the challenges that must be overcome to ensure the sustainable extraction of these materials.

Ramón Jiménez, CEO of Extremadura New Energies

Finally, Ramón Jiménez, CEO of Extremadura New Energies, presented on the company’s sustainable lithium extraction and refining project in Cáceres, Spain. His presentation highlighted the importance of developing a new entrepreneurial ecosystem to accelerate production in Spain and showcased the potential of sustainable mining practices.
