“Positive Energy represents the best of entrepreneurship in Spain”

The meeting was attended by the CEOs of the organizing companies and was opened by the High Commissioner for Spain Entrepreneurial Nation, Francisco Polo, who highlighted the value of this joint initiative because “the union is what has allowed us to overcome the most complicated phase of this health crisis and it will be essential to overcome the economic and social impact that the pandemic will generate in Spain”. In this sense, he stated that “Energía Positiva+ represents the best of entrepreneurship in our country. It was a success because it represents the best of Spanish society and the importance of uniting to face the great challenges that lie ahead.”

The finalists

The 14 selected projects have been presented by Spanish startups or scale-ups, with different degrees of maturity and different backgrounds. The projects passed a first phase in which the organising companies analyzed all the proposals received. In addition, these companies have held interviews with entrepreneurs to assess their viability and maturity.
Several proposals address the main vectors of the new energy model and focus on decarbonisation, renewable energy, energy efficiency, storage, sustainable mobility and circular economy. Among them, for example, there’s an innovative solution to boost the generation of renewable energy through floating wind platforms; a storage technology to allow greater penetration of renewables in the energy mix or another capable of taking advantage of any type of organic or inorganic waste, converting them into a gas with high hydrogen content. The finalists are: Solatom CSP S.L, Hybrid Energy Storage Solutions S.L, Pastoria Project, S.L, Nautilus Floating Solutions, S.L, PFT Engineering Development, Zubi New Ventures S.L, Egoa Energía, Light App SL, Cedrion Consultoría Técnica e Ingeniería S.L, OriGen.AI, Inc., Silbat Energy Storage Solutions, Graphene Solutions, Ariema Energía y Cedanjobs.

Next steps

In the next phase, the companies promoting Energía Positiva+ will complete their analysis and each of them, including EIT InnoEnergy, will close a collaboration agreement with at least one startup/scaleup before the end of May. The projects finally chosen will receive support from the companies for the development of the project through financing and/or making their innovation, investment, commercial development and structure tools available to them. The objective is that in June the startups/scaleups with which an agreement is reached begin to work to develop and implement their solutions within a year, complying with the established schedule.
