InnoBlog: Celebrating new graduates in renewable energy!

We finally made it! Meet the MSc in Renewable Energy alumni! Climate Crisis, beware, we are coming after you.

Last February, Master’s in Renewable Energy students got together to celebrate the culmination of their EIT InnoEnergy studies. The event took place in Barcelona. The ceremony was a very memorable event and a beautiful get together which gave closure to my colleagues and I after two years of hard work.

My experience as a student of the Master’s in Renewable Energy

After sharing these two beautiful years with my colleagues, goodbyes are bittersweet. I feel very grateful to have had the chance to be part of this journey and meet people from all over the world. I cannot help feeling nostalgic about all the good times and memories we have shared. However, I know we all have very promising futures ahead of us. It is time for us to use the tools the programme has provided us with to actually make a difference and fight climate change.

The Master’s in Renewable Energy covers everything from renewable energy generation and the impact on costs to energy markets, grid optimisation and decarbonisation, energy efficiency upgrades to even energy economy and the environment. The programme takes place at two of the four partner universities, your choice: KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm), UPC Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya Barcelona Tech (Barcelona), École Polytechnique (Paris) and IST Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisboa).

I decided to do my first year in Barcelona and the second one in Stockholm. I loved both universities, courses, and cities. Barcelona’s lively atmosphere was a huge contrast but perfect combination with Stockholm’s nature. About the Graduation Ceremony.

The graduation ceremony was a day to remember. Corey Duncan, from intake 2018 and I moderated the event.  Also, Malavika Venugopal and Gabriel Marinho Silva, our student representatives, delivered heartfelt and inspiring speeches. After being handed our diplomas, we all got together and shared some stories over a glass of wine.

Cheers for a more sustainable future!
