ENGIE and InnoEnergy: a growing partnership

The relations between InnoEnergy, the European accelerator dedicated to the energy transition, and ENGIE are getting stronger! ENGIE has become a shareholder in the European InnoEnergy company (KIC InnoEnergy S.E.).

A long-standing partnership

InnoEnergy and ENGIE share the same vision of the future of energy. At a European level, InnoEnergy supports innovative projects, start-ups and scale-ups via its accelerator, and develops both initial training courses (Masters, PhD) and continuous certifying courses. InnoEnergy has an annual budget of 104 million euros to achieve this mission.

ENGIE’s entry into InnoEnergy’s capital follows a collaboration that began more than six years ago with ENGIE participation in TBB (The Business Booster, InnoEnergy’s annual flagship event) in Barcelona in 2013. Since 2013, ENGIE regularly takes part in the events organized by InnoEnergy in France and in Europe, and participates through its various departments to many initiatives around sustainable city themes, new energies and networks, or eco-industries.

Hendrik Van Asbroeck, ENGIE’s Innovation Director underlines that “This participation demonstrates the deepening of the links developed over time between ENGIE and InnoEnergy. It opens a new page in our partnership and should allow us to extend our innovation ecosystem to new players in order to develop new growth drivers for the Group and our partners.

Richard Biagioni, CEO of InnoEnergy France, adds: “We are delighted that ENGIE has raised its involvement and interest in InnoEnergy. Our goal has always been to be a strategic partner for industry in terms of innovation. Strengthening the partnership with ENGIE will allow us to deepen our relationships and bring our strategies closer together.

Successful collaborations

Over the last two years, ENGIE has actively supported some of the startups supported by InnoEnergy. In June 2017, Jean-Paul Reich, ENGIE’s former Scientific Director and hydrogen expert, joined the HySiLabs Strategic Committee, thanks to the InnoEnergy network. The same year, ENGIE also hosted DCbrain and HySiLabs on its booth during the Viva Technology tradeshow in Paris. […]
