EIT InnoEnergy alumni, William Wiseman and Alba Forns, co-founders of Climatize, have been recognised by Forbes 30 Under 30 2023 Social Impact

We are thrilled to announce that two EIT InnoEnergy alumni, William Wiseman and Alba Forns, co-founders of Climatize, have been recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30 2023 Social Impact for their work on climate finance. Their mobile app is revolutionizing the way individuals and organizations invest in climate projects that support underrepresented communities.

People’s financial network for climate action

Climatize, founded in 2021, has already made significant strides towards achieving their goal of becoming the people’s financial network for climate action. Their app enables users to invest in profitable climate projects starting from as little as $5. Additionally, the app supports donation campaigns for climate nonprofits. The team’s dedication to fighting for climate justice, social justice, and financial inclusion has landed them a partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy.

Every transaction an investment in climate action

As EIT InnoEnergy Master’s in Renewable Energy graduates, Will and Alba credit their education for providing the necessary renewable energy background, entrepreneurship foundation, and invaluable industry connections to start their own company. Their vision for Climatize has already raised $735,000 from angel investors, government grants, and venture capital, and they have sourced $155 million worth of projects in their pipeline.

The team’s work has also been recognised by several awards, including being awarded Young Global Changers 2022 and receiving grants from governmental institutions for their startup. Their commitment to climate action has also led to the organization of the first Santa Cruz California Climate Consortium.

Alba Forns shares her inspiration behind Climatize, “Our main goal is to cover that gap by making every transaction an investment in climate action. Both EIT InnoEnergy and ESADE have been very supportive and provided invaluable connections within the industry. It’s empowering to make fighting climate change easier than ever before – and being able to align my values with my job means the world to me.”

Will and Alba’s journey started during the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Journey at ESADE Business School, where they entered the ESADE eWorks accelerator programme. Despite the challenges of pursuing a master’s degree while working on a startup, their team pushed through the hardest months and celebrated big wins. In mid-2020, they received a non-dilutive grant by the New York State Research and Development Agency (NYSERDA) in addition to participating in the Venture for ClimaTech (V4C) Accelerator. Now that they have graduated, they are working at Climatize full-time.

The recognition from Forbes 30 Under 30 2023 Social Impact is a testament to the dedication and hard work put in by Will and Alba. We congratulate them on their success and look forward to seeing Climatize continue to make a significant impact in the fight against climate change.
