EIT InnoEnergy is the number one innovation engine for sustainable energy across Europe supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).
Creating energy that is sustainable in every sense.
For us, true sustainability also means an industry that is commercially viable, endlessly innovative, and highly competitive. We make this possible by supporting the market adoption of pioneering new innovations, without risk or complexity. From mobility to construction - from renewable energy sources to smarter storage - our commercially attractive innovations are nurtured in EIT InnoEnergy's trusted ecosystem. Since when we were founded in 2010, we have judged over 4500 investment proposals, invested in nearly 450 assets, which have a forecasted revenue of €16 billion. In addition, 1,400 alumni have graduated from our Master and PhD School programmes, many of whom work for prestigious companies such as Tesla, Siemens, Total and own investments like Northvolt. We also bring together 500+ key players from across the energy value chain, from 18 different countries, who have indirect access to 150 million energy consumers. The activities of EIT InnoEnergy are managed through our regional offices located in Benelux, Central Europe, France, Germany, Iberia and Scandinavia.
As part of EIT InnoEnergy’s activities, our Master School offers 7 MSc programmes in tandem with 18 of Europe’s best technical universities and business schools. We attract, select and retain students with game-changing potential from amongst the 1,500+ applicants per year. Selected students enrol in dual degree engineering programmes with additional one-of-a-kind innovation and entrepreneurship training. These programmes expose them to the challenges and opportunities of the energy sector in different European countries. The programmes cover a wide range of energy topics, from renewables to nuclear, electrical systems, storage applications and more.
Educational activities are fully integrated within EIT InnoEnergy’s ecosystem. Start-ups and partners benefit from students’ talent through challenge-driven education. Companies’ ideas are tested in a manner alike high-end consulting services, while students acquire invaluable job-ready skills. Moreover, all students go through an MBA-level Innovation & Entrepreneurship Journey that equips them with skills like venture creation, investors pitching, creative thinking, tolerance for ambiguity, application of digital skills in the energy sector, and more.
Within the education team at EIT InnoEnergy, the Education Industry Liaison Manager plays a key role in managing industry relationships with the actors in our ecosystem. The main focus is on strengthening the participation of industry, both corporates and start-ups, in the master programmes that form EIT InnoEnergy’s master school offering. Specifically, the Education Industry Liaison Manager focuses on strategic, recurrent, collaboration with key actors. In other words, the focus should be on securing collaborations which spam over time and that take full advantage of what EIT InnoEnergy’s Master School can offer.
There are two main activities concerning industry/education collaboration that fall within the Education Industry Liaison Manager responsibility: challenges and cases. First, challenges are projects put forward by industry and executed by our students as part of their studies. This is, in almost every case, a paid service, and the role of the Education industry Liaison Manager concerns (1) the business development activities regarding the acquisition of these challenges, (2) ensuring the right agreements are in place and (3) coordination of the project and actors (industry and university/ies).
Second, as part of the industry participation in our master programmes, cases, especially concerning EIT InnoEnergy’s own start-ups, are developed. The Education Industry Liaison Manager plays a role in the in the creation of these cases by coordinating the projects and the actors. This means the Education Industry Liaison Manager ensures the writing of these cases, usually executed by an external academic partner, progress as per an agreed plan and stay within budget. Collaboration with our instructional designers is of high relevancy in these type of projects.
In addition to these two main activities, and due to the focus on achieving strategic, recurrent, projects with key actors, the Education Industry Liaison Manager collaborates closely with our Education Career Centre to secure holistic collaborations combining challenges and cases, but also internships, thesis placements, etc.
