Technical Director EU Green Hydrogen Acceleration Center (EGHAC)
To achieve Europe’s ambition for a decarbonized energy system, large scale integration of Hydrogen is required. Hydrogen enables integration of renewables as it converts and stores energy, it also plays an important role in at-scale decarbonization of transport, industry and buildings.
According to the Hydrogen Roadmap Europe it could provide in 2050 - in the ambitious scenario -24% of the final energy demand, create 820 bn revenue and 5,4 million jobs in the EU. To realize this potential industry, policymakers and investors should work together on shared ambitions and concrete actions. Therefore, we are proud to announce the start of the industry-based EU Green Hydrogen Acceleration Center (EGHAC), with the mission to accelerate the uptake of green hydrogen.
EIT InnoEnergy was mandated in October 2017 to lead the EBA (European Battery Alliance), with the objective to capture, for Europe, the upcoming new business worth 250B€ per annum, across the whole battery value chain. We have delivered on our mandate (www.eba250.com), so our methodology in running EBA has been retained by the Commission as a blue print for implementing strategic European industrial value chains. In that context we have recently been approached by the new Commission for playing a (similar) role in Hydrogen. The first meetings have taken place with high ranked representatives of the European Commission, established Industry players and challengers of the current landscape. It is expected that the EGHAC will grow into an ecosystem of 200+ European players.
You will create roadmaps that accelerate the technical development to drive down the cost for green hydrogen to less than 3 Euro/kg by 2025.
Together with the Commercial Director you identify, co-create, promote and support bankability of sizeable (>0,5 GWh, >250 GWh) industrial projects across the entire value chain.
You identify, you promote and support promising start-ups and SMEs
You interact with other associations and Joint Research Centre’s.
The Technical Director is responsible for providing a broad range of technical support and product development for projects, customers, operations in EGHAC’s ecosystem. A high degree of team building, collaboration and influence is required.
Together with the Commercial Director, you identify how profitable value- and supply chains can be developed in the sectors steel, cement, transport on (inland) waters, heavy road transport and green hydrogen as a feedstock such that investment cases can be co-created.
