With more than EUR 560 million investments and over 380 supported start-ups, EIT InnoEnergy is one of the largest European investors in sustainable energy innovations. The industry focus is broad, from renewable energy, storage & smart grid solutions, smart buildings & cities technologies to transport and mobility.
We support and invest in innovation at every stage of the journey – from classroom to end-customer. With our network of partners we build connections across Europe, bringing together inventors and industry, graduates and employers, researchers and entrepreneurs, businesses and markets.
InnoEnergy was established in 2010 and is supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).
Our Investor Profile
In the last ten years we have supported more than 480 companies and today we have one of the largest climate tech investment portfolios worldwide with more than 200 investee companies.
We define ourselves as patient investors as we want opportunities that make impact at large and this goes hand in hand with industrial development.
In addition, 80% of our companies are exporting so we are looking for solutions that are highly scalable. Climate change and energy transition are global issues and therefore we need global solutions that can be implemented not only in the nearest markets, but also worldwide, hence we are on on ambitious journey.
InnoEnergy’s equity holdings are managed following a portfolio management approach with the goal to maximise the return (Economic/Society/Environmental) given the desired level of risk. The risk level taken is commensurate with a portfolio of early stage companies and scale-ups in sustainable energy. We combine companies with high-capex needs, with capex-light business models, often involving software and artificial intelligence solutions to achieve our desired company mix.
We classify companies in our portfolio across seven thematic fields: Renewable Energies, Energy Storage, Smart Electric Grid, Smart and Intelligent Buildings and Cities, Energy Efficiency, Energy for Transport and Mobility and Circular Economy. For each thematic field we have designed a strategy that takes into account our vision of the market that needs to achieve the energy transition targets set up by the EU, the sub-sectors where we see the best market opportunities and the need to complete the value chain for some of the thematics.
As part of a small team within our Business Creation department we are looking for an experienced Associate Portfolio Manager who will be involved in implementing the exit strategy of some of our participated ventures with a direct contribution to revenues and hence to the success of the organisation.
Our portfolio has grown exponentially during the last few years and it is expected to continue to grow at the same rate in the coming years. You will have the opportunity to work with early stage companies across Europe to help them grow not only in Europe but also globally. You will be working closely with colleagues in our different co-locations under different jurisdictions within a matrix structure and a very dynamic environment.
