Welcome to our Pan-European newsletter, Watt’s On, Summer 2017.
Every day we are seeing increased support for the energy transition and the work of the InnoEnergy network, which is both exciting and inspiring – however, we must not for one minute take our foot off the pedal. There is much to be done until we achieve a sustainable energy Europe, but I am pleased to share some recent successes in this edition of the Watt’s On newsletter.
As you may have heard, the European Investment Bank will be financing €12.4bn for transformational new transport, energy and internet schemes. Of that, €4.3bn will be allocated to financing energy projects. We are proud of our rapport with the EIB and look forward to welcoming them to Europe’s leading innovation event in sustainable energy- The Business Booster. I personally invite you to attend this event which will be running 25-26 October in Amsterdam. It will be our biggest yet with over 20% more innovations for you to see. During August we have a special offer, check out the newsletter to find out more.
I am also delighted to tell you that our Portuguese team recently welcomed the Vice-President of the European Commission and Head of the Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič, the European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation Carlos Moedas and Explorer and Chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation Dr. Bertrand Piccard. Commissioner Šefčovič, Commissioner Moedas and Dr. Piccard met with several Portuguese innovations, which you can read about on page 8. Their presence is a great example of how our work is becoming increasingly recognised as a key enabler of Europe’s energy transition.
And, to generate even more market ready solutions, which will support a more sustainable Europe, I am pleased to inform you that we have now changed our Investment Round for Innovation Projects to a year-round model. This means that innovations can apply for funding at any time during the year. If you have a great sustainable energy innovation that you would like to bring to market, take a look at page 9 in the newsletter for details on funding and the 2017 cut-off dates.
As always, there have been many other exciting projects happening in the InnoEnergy network. We have established new partnerships with Rafako, the biggest boiler producer in Europe; the College of Europe; and the European trade association for Business Angels, Seed Funds and Early Stage Market Players (EBAN). We have attended the EU Sustainable Energy Week, European Economic Congress, InterSolar 2017, The Green Africa Innovation Booster and many more events which allow us to continue to expand the InnoEnergy network, across Europe and beyond.
We are also pleased to support energy industry professionals through our professional courses: Energy Efficiency for better Buildings and Competitive Intelligence & Effective Exploitation of Patents. Register now so you don’t miss out, both courses will begin in October. For more information visit page 17.
Read about all of these updates and the many more we have available for you- such as the ground breaking transformation of a ski resort into a smart, fully connected model of sustainability undertaken by our PhD students- in the newsletter below.
Until next time, I wish you a good summer and I look forward to continuing our business together, sharing our successes stories, expanding our reach and, ultimately, contributing to a sustainable energy Europe together.
