EIT InnoEnergy gathered the most important players in the energy industry to discuss the latest Portuguese energy and climate national plan at the event Let’s Talk Energy, on 7 June.
Let’s Talk Energy is an event focused on the Portuguese National Plan for Energy and Climate (PNEC2030) and touches two main topics: the pillars of the PNEC2030 and the Role of Innovation in the Energy Transition.
During the event, João Bernardo, the head of the General Direction of Energy and Geology of the Portuguese Government, presented the plan to the participants, and several entities such as EDP, the European Investment Bank, CorPower and Instituto Superior Técnico shared their perspective about this plan and how they are contributing to its implementation.
Then the National Plan was presented and discussed, aiming at understanding which the main challenges and obstacles faced in Portugal to achieve the PNEC2030’s goals and how can we further accelerate the energy transition.
The event addressed topics such as the role of utilities and digitalisation in the energy transition, the growing presence of prosumer, the societal contribution and, among others, the most impactful innovations in the energy transition.
The National Plans are mandatory in Europe and will guide National funds and investments in the area of energy and climate for the next decade. The Let’s Talk Energy initiative contributed to define the key steps that can make a substantial difference in European sustainable development.
This event was part of the European Sustainable Week initiative as an Energy Day.
