This session is the second of three breakfast sessions organized by InnoEnergy in 2018 touching on the impact of digitalisation on the energy market.
In this session on September 21 we will discuss what it takes to design an ‘energy-smart’ city. Does a bottom-up approach with ‘energy-smart’ buildings eventually lead to a smart city? Will algorithms in buildings get so smart that they automatically merge in one omniscient city brain? Is the brain system of the Octopus, radically different from human centralized intelligence and control, an inspiration for smart cities?
Inspiring speakers from VITO, Eandis, Cloud Energy Optimizer and InnoEnergy will share their views on and experiences with the subject.
8.30 – 9.00: Networking breakfast
9.00 – 9.10: Introduction by Joost Vanden Berghe, InnoEnergy Benelux.
9.10 – 9.30: Key note “Energy algorithms in cities and building: what is to come? Is the octopus an inspiration?” by Daan Six, VITO
9.30 – 10.00: Presentation “How does the distribution network influence the ∑ (smart buildings)i = smart city? equation? 2 + 2 = 5?” by Jean-Pierre Hollevoet, Director Network and Asset Management at Fluvius
10.00 – 10.30: Presentation “Are there limiting factors to a buildings smartness? Inside? Outside?” by Michel Tap, CEO at Cloud Energy Optimizer
