European Commissioner visits CC Poland co-location

“During my visit to KIC InnoEnergy in Krakow I met with a number of partners from academia, research and business. I was particularly pleased to hear first hand from young entrepreneurs as to how the KIC helped them to put forward their innovation schemes. I was also pleased to meet the entrepreneurs of tomorrow, the Masters and PhD students at the KIC. All motivated young persons”.

This is how Andrroulla Vassiliou, the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, describes her visit at the Polish co-location on her Twitter. After the conference on “KIC as a hub for innovation and entrepreneurship”, which took place on 6th June in Krakow, she met two entrepreneurs belonging to KIC InnoEnergy consortium. Both presented their business ideas and explained in what way KIC contributed to their success. The second part of the visit was devoted to the session with KIC InnoEnergy Master School students. Representatives of Clean Coal Technologies, EMINE, ENTECH, RENE and SELECT programmes had the opportunity to talk to the Commissioner and ask some questions regarding e.g. the European Commission strategy when it comes to high unemployment rate among young people living in EU countries.

The meeting ended with a press conference, which was summarized by the Commissioner with the following words: “Involved since its beginning in the EIT and its KICs, Poland is a clear testimony of the KICs’ contribution to the creation of new business opportunities through the promotion of an entrepreneurial culture.”
