In Grenoble and Paris, the KIC InnoEnergy education community gathered early September for a networking event well laid out. Msc students, PhD candidates and Alumni were invited to discover their city in an original way and to meet their peers and some of the KIC InnoEnergy France staff.
A digital treasure hunt for the Grenoble education community
In the “Capital of the Alps”, the (ex)-students had the occasion to take part in an orientation race organized by the supplier Diverty Events on Thursday, 8th September. By groups, the young attendees unveiled the must-see places of the city of Grenoble equipped with tablets.
Tablets? Yes with interactive tablets! Do you know the Pokémon GO app? The principle developed by Diverty Events was quite the same: teams were geo-tracked. On the map, they could see the different places where they could win more or fewer points depending on the symbol colour. As it was a race against the clock, each team built a different strategy to maximize their chance to win and no one did the same route.
To answer the picture or video challenges and the multiple choice quizzes about energy, French cinema, Grenoble history or modern music, the participants did not hesitate to ask passers-by for help, imagine the most realistic Haka dance, take funny pictures by using their bodies as words…
The results were close. The winner team earned French specialities: chocolate and a bottle of Champagne that they offered to share with the other students. A networking cocktail followed, in the premises of KIC InnoEnergy France. Some PhD candidates joined us after their PhD course.

A cocktail cruise for the Parisian education community
In the City of Lights the day after, the program was just as original. What a better way to visit Paris than a cruise on a bateau-mouche on the Seine river?
That’s why, the KIC InnoEnergy education community living in Paris was invited to spend one evening on board of this so typical Parisian barge.
The evening started with a quick presentation of the KIC InnoEnergy news and activities. During the 2-hour cruise, attendees -just arrived in the capital or living here for several years- amazed in front of the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower and the François Mitterrand Library.
Whereas Alumni remembered good memories and shared their experience, RENE and EMINE master students discussed impressions about their first days in Université Pierre et Marie Curie and Université Paris-Saclay. Some of the students told their funny adventures during their move-in time in their residence.
At last the magic of the Seine ended but everyone went back home with contacts and memories.
